Alexis Batrakoulis, BSc, MSc, CSCS, NSCA-CPT, ACSM-EP, CPT, EIM II; ACE-CHC, CPT; NASM- CES, PES, has been involved in the fitness industry in the past 25 years and currently works as an educator, speaker, author, subject matter expert and exercise physiologist in 40 countries across 4 continents while he is based in Greece. He holds a BSc in Physical Education and Sports Science with a concentration in fitness, an MSc in Exercise and Health with a concentration in exercise and obesity and is preparing to earn a PhD in Exercise Physiology with a concentration in exercise and obesity. His research findings are focusing on the effects of high-intensity interval neuromuscular training on health, performance and quality of life in previously inactive adults with obesity. He has also earned numerous professional credentials through ACE, ACSM, NASM, and NSCA. Batrakoulis is a Subject Matter Expert and an International Master Trainer at the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and is also a member of the Professional Standards Committee of EuropeActive, which leads the development of educational standards, oversees the accreditation process for all courses, and registers qualified exercise professionals for all occupational roles in the European fitness sector. More specifically, he has respectively led and contributed to the Technical Experts Groups that developed standards for the occupational roles of Weight Management Exercise Specialist and Pre/Diabetes Exercise Specialist in Europe. He is the Founder and Education Director of the International Obesity Exercise Training Institute (IOETI) delivering a live workshop titled "Obesity and Weight Management Exercise Specialist Program”, which is approved by ACE, ACSM, AFAA, ΙFPA, ISSA, NASM, NSCA, NCSF, PTA Global, CanFitPro, Fitness Australia, REPs UK, and EREPs as a continuing education course for fitness and allied health professionals around the globe. Additionally, he serves as a Member on the Exercise is Medicine Credential Committee, Professional Education Committee and International Health & Fitness Summit Program Committee for the ACSM. Recently received global recognition as the 2018 IDEA Personal Trainer of the Year while he was a Finalist for the same award in 2017. Lastly, he is a recognized Certified Personal Trainer Emeritus (RCPT*E) through NSCA and is also a NSCA Personal Training Quarterly (PTQ) Editorial Review Panel Member and a NSCA Personal Trainers Special Interest Group (SIG) Executive Council Member.

Obesity and Weight Management Exercise Specialist (IOETI-OWMES)
A comprehensive educational course for fitness professionals who seek to blend theory and practice on exercise and obesity in order to supervise customized and science-based exercise training programs in physically inactive adults struggling with the biggest global public health challenge of the 21st century.
An interactive workshop where theory meets practical application for exercise professionals who seek to apply an individualized approach, and assess and motivate physically inactive adults suffered from obesity to an active and healthy lifestyle. During this educational course the participants will know how to analyze and evaluate clients’ health and fitness needs working either preventively or therapeutically while becoming a valuable member of a multidisciplinary clients’ health care team. After this workshop, the exercise professional will be able to design, implement, evaluate and supervise exercise training programs for overweight clients and clients struggling with obesity by collecting and analyzing client information to ensure the effectiveness and safety of customized workout routines. In addition, as part of a team with allied health professionals, a fitness professional will contribute significantly and uniquely in helping the individuals impacted by obesity to improve their health and quality of life through a monitored, customized, and science-based exercise program in many different work settings.
Upon the completion of this workshop you will be able to:
- Understand the problem of obesity at global level
- Implement appropriate exercises, drills and games to engage overweight/obese clients
- Design exercise routines to help a variety of clients to achieve their goals
- Apply science-based exercise protocols promoting safety and customization
